BlockParent.org will require “paid” volunteers to record all incidents (interventions, arguments, fights, threats, bystander experience and outcomes) for monthly and quarterly reviews that will be shared with the school and BlockParent.org subscribers.
Know what’s going on. Adults underestimate the rates of bullying because kids and sometimes schools, rarely report it and it often happens when adults aren’t around. Assessing bullying through anonymous surveys and data capture can provide a clear picture of what is going on.
Target efforts. Understanding trends and types of bullying will help plan bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Measure results. The only way to know if your prevention and intervention efforts are working is to measure them over time.
Bullying is an enormous problem, and we must all do our part to impact it. We cannot rely on school board, city, county, state or federal entities alone. We must do our part in small, incremental, yet consistent steps and enforce our will.
